Pie Making and Pastry with Ivan Day - Food Historian.

Wednesday 6th October 2010

Tea served 3.30pm - Late afternoon event followed by supper.

The British pie is a mere ghost of its former self. Every body knows that the modern mass-produced horror is used as a land-fill site for poor quality meat, yet we continue to eat millions of them!

Food historian, Ivon Day will take us through the evolution of this iconic dish. He will make a number of truly remarkable pies from some forgotten backwaters of our culinary history.

Discover the delights of Lumber pies, Tafferty tarts and Mermaid pie. Try our own Cumbrian sweet pie, the mother of all Christmas mince pies and learn how to construct the most spectacular raised pie you will ever see in your life!

Food and Company invite you to spend a day with Ivan Day, one of the worlds greatest culinary writers! Not only is Ivan a hugely successful writer, he's in demand around the globe for his lectures, demonstrations and broadcasting work.

Ivan uses genuine culinary equipment of the period throughout his demonstration and has a wealth of knowledge and stories concerning the origins and development of our foods through all times.

Book early to avoid disappointment!
